Before I list some of the best sites by name I should mention
some basic principles about choosing personals sites:
- Look for sites that heavily penalise guys who aren't prepared
to pay a bit for visibility.
- Make sure the site has lots of ads from women who are
local to you and that it's easy to find them among the listings.
The site should have hundreds of listings to be worth while.
- Set up a dedicated email account to send and receive messages.
Make sure you use the same address for all your ads so you
don't waste time going from one email account to another.
- If you're not sure about the quality of a site place a
free ad and move on - you never know what it may deliver.
- To find the best personals you can use one of the big
search engines such as Yahoo,
Altavista, Lycos, Excite, MSN, Netscape, Google, Magellan, Hotbot, Goto, Infoseek, Looksmart, Snap, Northern Light, Open directory, or Webcrawler. These are the
big ones.
Type in one of the following keyword strings for maximum
effectiveness:
personals
adult personals
sex personals
swinger personals
free personals
free adult personals
These are the keywords for which most publishers of personals
sites optimise web pages so that they attract high rankings
in the search engines. You can sometimes put the keywords
in quotes, eg "adult personals". This tells the search engines
to do an Exact Match Search (all words together). In some
search engines, eg Altavista, you can also do searches such
as +adult +personals. This will instruct the search engine
to look for BOTH words not just one or the other. You can
also exclude words from your search. For example if you want
to exclude gay personals sites because you're straight you
could do a search +adult +personals -gay.
In my experience some search engines are much better than
others. Yahoo takes a long time to add sites to its Directory
and may therefore be out of date at times. You can also look
at a list of Web Pages when you do a search in Yahoo. I've
found that many of these are doorway pages rather than individual
websites and therefore irritating for people looking for a
good personals site.
A good search engine to try is Goto. The top rankings are
all paid for by advertisers. the list is easy to read and
informative. You should find a lot of personals sites by typing
keywords such as personals, adult personals, sex personals
or swinger personals.
I don't like adult search engines very much. Many websites
that purport to be adult search engines are just sex sites
with very little information. Others are slow and complicated
to use because they have too many pictures and browser windows.
Stick to the traditional search engines.
